Trump invokes claim of right to run for third presidential term
Trump said at the rally that the law says he is not allowed to run again, but expressed uncertainty about it.
House Speaker Mike Johnson told reporters last year that Trump trolls Democrats with claims of a third term and that he did not see a way to amend the constitution to allow Trump to run again.
At a rally in Texas in February, Trump told the crowd they should do one more term and claimed he was entitled to it.
“I’ve studied that phrase for ever. Unfortunately, it’s quite concise. There’s not a lot of wiggle room. It says something to the effect that ‘under no circumstances and for any reason will you even consider thinking about running for president if you had – ’.”
