What this site is

LatestIn indexes public news: events, cited facts, and verbatim quotes from published articles. Almost everything we store is about the news, not about you.

What we store about you

If you only read the site: nothing. No ad trackers, no analytics cookies, no fingerprinting. Standard server logs (IP address, request path, timestamp) are kept briefly for security and debugging.

We measure aggregate traffic with Google Analytics in cookieless mode: consent for analytics and ad storage is permanently denied in the tag, so it never sets a cookie or stores an identifier on your device. Google receives anonymous page-view pings (page URL, referrer) that cannot be tied to you across visits.

If you create an API key: your email address, a one-way hash of your key, and daily request counts per key. Sign-in is handled by Google Firebase Authentication, which sets the cookies it needs to keep you signed in. That is the only cookie use on this site.

What we store about the news

Article metadata (headlines, outlets, URLs, dates), extracted facts with source citations, and verbatim quotes with speaker attribution. Quotes are short excerpts, always linked to the original article. Speakers indexed here are public figures quoted in published reporting.

Third parties

Infrastructure runs on Google Cloud. Sign-in runs on Google Firebase Authentication. Aggregate traffic measurement runs on Google Analytics in cookieless mode, as described above. We do not sell or share your email or usage data with anyone.

Removal

To delete your account data (email, keys, usage history), email [email protected] from the address on the account. If you are a publisher or a quoted person with a concern about indexed content, email [email protected] with the page link.

Changes

If this policy changes, the effective date above changes with it.
