South Korea blames North Korean mines for border blast injuries
Three South Korean soldiers were injured by mine blasts at the border on September 21, 2026.
The investigation included a joint site investigation with the American-led U.N. Command, forensic analysis of TNT and other substances from the soldiers' uniforms, and discovery of one additional North Korean mine after the blast.
South Korea's Defense Ministry stated that South Korean and U.S. militaries are capable of intercepting the missile North Korea test-fired.
“Our military strongly urges North Korea to offer a sincere apology to our injured soldiers and immediately remove the mines that it installed in violation of an armistice agreement”
Three South Korean military officers wounded in explosion near border
Three South Korean military officers were wounded in an explosion in the western sector of the Demilitarized Zone.
The DMZ is a legacy of the Korean War from 1950 to 1953, which ended with an armistice but not a peace treaty.
There have been growing concerns in South Korea about increased activity by North Korean soldiers near the military demarcation line.
