NASA and SpaceX Prepare Falcon Heavy for Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope Launch

NASA and SpaceX completed the Flight Readiness Review for the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope mission on August 21.

The Falcon Heavy's twin side boosters separated and performed boost-back burns to return for landing at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.

Technicians loaded the Roman observatory with 290 gallons (1,100 liters) of hydrazine fuel on July 25.

Jamie Dunn told a National Academies committee that Roman was zeroed out in the president's budget in at least half of the eight years he worked on it.

NASA readies Nancy Grace Roman Telescope for launch

SpaceX sealed the Roman observatory inside the payload fairing of its Falcon Heavy rocket on August 24.

NASA transported Roman inside its rocket fairing from the Payload Hazardous Servicing Facility to SpaceX's hangar at Launch Complex-39A overnight on August 25.

After launch, it will take Roman about 30 days to reach the sun-Earth Lagrange Point 2, which lies about 930,000 miles from Earth.
