Macau court sentences pro-democracy campaigner in first national security case
Human Rights Watch deputy Asia director Maya Wang called on the European Union and Portugal to push for Au's release.
Macao's government and China's Hong Kong and Macao Affairs office both backed the sentence.
The court said Au worked with hostile organisations abroad to spread a political agenda and leaked confidential information to groups overseas.
