EU orders Google to open Android mic, camera, and screen to rival AI assistants
Kent Walker, Google's president of global affairs, stated that the Android decision threatens device security by granting external apps sensitive device permissions.
The second decision requires Google to provide anonymized Search query, click, and ranking data to rival search engines and AI chatbots for a cost-based fee.
Google must implement these changes in Android 18 and no later than 1 August 2027.
