EU orders Google to open Android mic, camera, and screen to rival AI assistants
The European Commission ordered Google to give rival AI assistants the same access to Android features that Gemini has, including the camera, microphone, and screen.
The Commission adopted two binding specification decisions under the Digital Markets Act on 16 July.
Draft terms for the Qualified AI Assistant Programme are due by 1 February 2027.
