DR Congo Government and M23 Rebels Agree on Roadmap for Peace Negotiations

The peace negotiations in Switzerland were attended by M23, the government of DR Congo, Qatar, the US, Togo, the African Union Commission, and Switzerland.

The DR Congo government and the M23 rebel group agreed to a roadmap for peace talks.

The roadmap establishes a timeline for talks under a US-brokered peace framework originally signed in 2025.

DR Congo government and M23 rebels reach agreement on peace talks roadmap

The roadmap was reached following five days of talks in Switzerland held from August 17 to August 21 with international participants.

A ceasefire verification mission was scheduled to arrive in Minembwe on Monday.

The DRC and the rebel alliance agreed on a standardized reporting method for ceasefire violations and a mechanism to resolve issues with implementing the Doha agreement.
