Ceasefire monitoring mission arrives in DRC

The Democratic Republic of the Congo and an M23-led rebel alliance agreed on a roadmap for peace talks.
The DRC transferred 15 prisoners to the Congo River Alliance and M23 earlier in the month in a process facilitated by the International Committee of the Red Cross.
A ceasefire verification mission was scheduled to arrive in Minembwe on Monday.

The roadmap establishes a timeline for talks under a US-brokered peace framework originally signed in 2025.
The peace negotiations in Switzerland were attended by M23, the government of DR Congo, Qatar, the US, Togo, the African Union Commission, and Switzerland.
