Major fire at Canada military base kills four, injures dozens
Rutland said officials knew about the fire on the base for several hours before it overtook the soldiers, but it was decided that training could carry on.
Maj-Gen Wade Rutland said the fire was approximately one kilometre away when the wind shifted, and it moved that distance in 30 to 60 seconds.
Rutland said the investigation may take at least a month.
“The fire was a kilometre away when the wind shifted. That is not normal for a fire to move a kilometre in 36 seconds,”
WADE RUTLAND
