FAA says Boeing 737 Max software glitch not a flight-safety issue

The FAA said its Corrective Action Review Board made the determination because pilots retain full control of the aircraft and the indications to the flight crew are clear and unambiguous.

The FAA determined that a software issue in certain Boeing 737 MAX flight computers is not a safety concern.

Boeing flagged the software issue, which could affect certain landing procedures, last month.

Boeing engineers and tech workers approve contract, avoid strike

Howard Hardee said certification of the new Boeing 777 and the 737 MAX 10 would likely have been delayed if engineers and technicians had gone on strike.

The final contract amounts are $11,000 more for professional employees and $8,000 more for technical workers than under Boeing's initial offer, which the union rejected in August.

Boeing vice president Ben Nimmergut said the company is pleased with the outcome of the vote.

“They have had a setback on certification of the MAX 10, but getting this negotiation process behind them I think is a really positive development for Boeing, and for people watching the industry it can only be a good sign of their continued recovery.”

Boeing flags 737 Max software glitch affecting automated approach functions

The FAA certified the Max 7 in early August with the newest software installed.

U.S. airlines told CNBC they do not have Max 8 and Max 9 airplanes with the updated software tied to the glitch in their fleets.

A flawed flight control software system was implicated in both Max 8 crashes and has since been updated.
