Tadej Pogacar Requires Surgery After Crash at Vuelta a Espana
This Vuelta marked Pogacar's 10th Grand Tour and the first one he has ever abandoned.
Tadej Pogacar crashed approximately 33 kilometers from the finish line of the eighth stage of the Vuelta a Espana and withdrew from the race.
Following Pogacar's withdrawal, Enric Mas became the race leader, with Felix Gall in second place and Primoz Roglic in third.
“After seven days, Tadej was happy and it’s a very big shame for him. Cycling is about good and bad, and [we hope] Tadej recovers as soon as possible because hopefully it’s not something too bad. We’re not going to think about that right now, but we’ll see what the doctor says.”
