Separatist party wins Quebec election
The Coalition Avenir Quebec had been in power for eight years before this election.
Daniel Beland, a political science professor at McGill University, said support for independence in Quebec remains at about 30 percent.
Quebec held two previous referendums on independence, in 1980 and 1995, and voters rejected secession both times.
“I look forward to working with you to support Québec's businesses and workers impacted by tariffs, create more good jobs, work to end homelessness, and get more homes built across Québec.”
