Tropical Storm Karina Strengthens into Hurricane in Pacific Ocean
The center of Karina was far out at sea and not threatening land.
The National Hurricane Center reported that Karina had maximum sustained winds of 80 miles per hour (130 kilometers per hour), making it a Category 1 hurricane.
