Colombia earthquake affects Venezuelan refugees

Deivi Delfín is a 15-year-old Venezuelan who survived both the Venezuela and Colombia earthquakes.

The brothers moved to Cali, Colombia, where their father works, on the Friday before the Colombia earthquake.

Deivi and Winder Delfín's mother Yusmani, grandmother Carmen, and brother Moissés were killed in the Venezuela earthquake in La Guaira.

Colombia earthquake: death toll rises, rescue efforts and international aid

Colombia's government was formalising support from rescue teams in the United States, El Salvador, Ecuador and Israel.

Mexico's President Claudia Sheinbaum said Colombia is refusing to allow a team of Mexican rescue experts into the country.

The president announced plans to declare an economic emergency and establish a reconstruction fund.

“The question isn't whether it can happen again. The question is rather when an earthquake of similar magnitude will occur at another of Colombia's seismic sources.”

Colombia earthquake: more than 200 dead

Magnolia Garcia Lugo of Bergenfield, New Jersey died while trying to save her daughter Natalia during the earthquake in Colombia.

Magnolia Garcia Lugo was a member of Mercy Church of God in Bergenfield for 22 years.

The Colombian government declared a national disaster.

“Magnolia has been a solid member of the church for 22 years along with her daughters... Natalia, who was also in the earthquake, and they've been a part of our team, actively, for more than 10 years. So, it's a big loss, and we feel it pretty heavily in the church,”

Earthquake strikes western Colombia killing at least 111

At least 111 people were killed by the earthquake.

The earthquake was the strongest to hit Colombia since record-keeping started in the early 1920s.

A 5.0 magnitude aftershock followed the earthquake less than an hour later.

“We sprinted outside in our pyjamas. There's no major structural damage to the hotel, but there are surface cracks in the walls, and paint and plaster have peeled off,”

7.4 magnitude earthquake strikes Colombia killing at least 74

The earthquake's depth was recorded at more than 100 kilometers.

Colombia is the third largest producer of coffee in the world, behind Brazil and Vietnam.

At least 60 people died in the city of Pereira, according to the Colombian Association of Capital Cities.

“From El Salvador, we are in communication and ready to provide immediate support with our rescue teams, medical personnel, paramedics, supplies, or any other assistance that our Colombian brothers and sisters deem necessary,”
