Alfalfa Sprouts Recalled Following Salmonella and E. Coli Outbreak
The FDA initiated an inspection and sample collection at Everything Sprouts on August 19 and recommended a recall.
At least 55 people in 15 states have been sickened in an E. coli and salmonella outbreak linked to alfalfa sprouts.
Reported outbreak illnesses began between May 31 and August 8.
“During this outbreak we have tested our products daily and have not received any positive lab results. We continue to work closely with public health officials to investigate the source of this potential issue and will provide updates as they become available.”
Multistate E. coli and salmonella outbreak linked to alfalfa sprouts
Of the sickened individuals, 46 were infected with E. coli, seven with salmonella, and two with both pathogens.
At least 55 people have fallen ill and four have been hospitalized in connection with the outbreak.
