Microsoft announces Robotics @Home contest winner, SmartTripod Takes The Cake (Video)
Ever had the problem of trying to film a video for YouTube, only to be faced with the problem of getting someone to carry the camera and film you? We have as well, and this is one of the most innovative setups we have seen in a long time. The videos below are from Arthur Wait, the winner of Microsofts @Home contest in which average people were asked to make their own at home robot, with certain conditions of course. Wait’s robot relies on an Xbox Kinect, the Eddie development platform and Microsoft Robotics Developer Studio 4 for Windows. The SmartTripod will track your movement wherever you decide to move, as it tracks skeletal movement made by whoever you are attempting to follow. For more on the SmartTripod, check out the videos below – one of which is a cooking how-to and the other how the SmartTripod works.
