Samsung VS. Apple: The Court Battle Begins

Posted In Law, Mobile - By Glen Travis on Sunday, April 29th, 2012 With No Comments »

We haven’t seen a patent battle this big since Apple and Microsoft hit it off in the ’90′s. Apple and Samsung are the two largest mobile phone makers in the world, and they currently have over 50 patent lawsuits, in over 10 countries. Judge Lucy Koh has ordered Apple and Samsung’s lawyers to sit down and talk out the patent issues. The meetings have been scheduled for May 21st and 22nd, and will be overseen by Magistrate judge Joseph C. Spero. The sessions will begin at 9:30 each morning and will take place in a San Francisco courthouse.

Both parties are required to release “a candid evaluation of the parties’ likelihood of prevailing on the claims and defences”, on May 9th. We can’t imagine what will happen if the two can’t come to a settlement over these lawsuits, but we will see what becomes of this. And as always will update you on anything new.
